26 Polot-an Farmers Graduate from STBF Rice Pest Management Course


Twenty-six  farmer participants from Polot-an, Pototan in Iloilo province graduated from a Science and Technology Based Farm (STBF) Rice Pest Management Course last October 30, 2012. Among those who welcomed the participants during the graduation day ceremony held at the Audio-Visual Room of the Local Government Center were Mr. Ed Libetario, Development Coordinator of Philrice, Henry Amores, Polot-an Farmers Association President and Dr. Noeni S. Nepomuceno, Consortium Director of WESVARRDEC. In his message to the graduates,  Dr. Nepomuceno highlighted the challenges that agriculture faces globally: hunger reduction and poverty alleviation in the context  of rapid climate change, decreasing arable land and water scarcity and loss of biodiversity. Through the invaluable knowledge gained on rice pest management, the graduates will be able to contribute their share in addressing this global problem.

Mayor Pablo L. Perez, municipal mayor of Pototan led in the distribution of certificates to the 26 Polot-an STBF graduates.
