PCAARRD conducts Visayan leg of PCAARRD Seminar Series on Socio-Economic Researches

The Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD) in coordination with WESVARRDEC conducted the Visayan leg of the PCAARRD Seminar Series on Socio-Economic Researches last August 12, 2014 at Iloilo Grand Hotel in Iloilo City. The theme of the seminar series is "Shaping the Policy Environment for Science, Technology and Innovation."  In attendance were various representatives from WESVARRDEC's consortium member agencies, partners and stakeholders.

The seminar disseminated to the participants the results of the following socio-economic projects: (1) Performance Review of PCAARRD's Research and Development Management Information System (RDMIS): Towards Enhancing the Efficiency of Investments in AANR R&D; (2) Impact Assessment of PCAARRD Non-Degree Training Programs; and (3) Enhancing the Demand for AFNR Graduates through S&T Program.

Executive Director Dr. Danilo C. Cardenas presented the rationale of the seminar. The lessons learned from the projects  and programs  as well as recommended mechanisms will serve as basis for future policies, programs and plans for effective R&D management and governance.

The topic Estimating Returns to Research and Investment and Analyzing Investment Portfolio of R&D in AANR using PCAARRD's Research and Development Management Information System (RDMIS)  was presented by Ms. Princess Alma B. Ani.  Meanwhile Impact Assessment of PCAARRD Non-Degree Training Program was presented by Prof. Rodger M. Valientes. Prof. Anna Floresca Firmalino on the other hand discussed  Enhancing the Demand for AFNR Graduates through S&T Program. The seminar culminated with a short talk on the Utility of Various Socio-Economic Research Outputs by Dr. Ernesto O. Brown. An open forum immediately followed each of the lectures.  The Mindanao leg of the seminar-series was scheduled to be conducted in Davao City immediately after the event.
